"Magic Wand" Edition

Sorry for the absence. Went to Hawaii. Didn't think it could live up to the hype, but it did. Amazing place. Interestingly, I did not see one single Obama sticker/sign/anything. Obviously, its not the most politically active place, but you would figure someone would be proud that someone that grew up there was going to be President. To make matters worse, I heard Rush Limbaugh playing on 3 channels, at the same time.

Doesn't seem like I missed a great deal of breaking news, except for the glorious return of Bob and the site completely redesigned. Those developments are certainly bigger than listening to McBush continue to lie, or McGraham calling Americans just a bunch of whiners.

Obama did vote for the new FISA law. I am confident Bush's NSA program was illegal and am sick they will probably get away with it. But I am not going to blame Obama for this. It is the party leadership that brought this to a vote (to cover their ass, since they were briefed on the illegal program and did nothing). Further, as Obama points out, this law does not block criminal proceedings.

I just listened to Bush explain (for the 50th time) that he does not have a "magic wand". He speaks of the wand so much, I wonder if he thinks it exists, and is just lamenting that he is not a possessor. Anyway, his lack of wand makes it hard to lower oil prices. Then he went on to yell about how if we would have done more offshore drilling at the start of his presidency, we would be getting that oil by now (because it takes 10 years to get the new oil....close enough on the math for George). Problem: Bush (and McCain) opposed offshore drilling, until this year when they realized they could use it as an exaggerated political issue/excuse.

New Poll: Franken 44%, Coleman 42%. First poll in a long time with Franken leading. It will be so great if Franken wins.

The New Yorker cover excites me. Now there is going to be a cover with Cindy McCain smoking crack in the White House, right? Or maybe John McCain in diapers, while Cindy massages his enlarged neck?
(side note: I am fine with the Obama cover....and I think Jesse Jackson's "nuts" comment was funny)

Speaking of Cindy, I want to clarify that I think its great she has recovered from her felonious drug addiction, which lead to felonious forgeries/theft of prescriptions. However, she needs to still clean up her act and quit stealing baking receipts. Just admit you don't cook because you are a millionaire beer heiress that is so elite you own 9 homes, so you don't deal with cooking.

Chuck, nice to see you back. I hope you're a little pissed about FISA. They won't 'probably' get away with it. They did get away with it. Anyway, you're the first one to mention it here. Obama didn't have to vote for it. He won't get any new supporters because of his yes vote, but he will lose a lot of his previously-excited base.

Chuck,

Really awful analogy. Cindy's nose-candy days are not the same as Michelle's supposed militancy.

Way out there somewhere, there is a line that is not crossed when it comes to decency (an incredibly low standard). A publication capitalizing on a recovering drug-abuser would be crossing it.

perhaps president slappy should more time playing with his "wand" than screwing up our economy...which he delusionally considers "basically sound".

if, by basically sound he means that the dollar is still worth something more than toilet paper, i guess he's correct...

Also, I am glad you found Jesse's "nuts" comment funny. However, I have no idea what is funny about it.

All it does is reveal how the civil rights establishment does not want to lose any of their influence, and thus even if it means cutting down the first black president, so be it.

Get riled about some satire, but let Jackson's comments slide-by.

SM: you say that cindy's nose-candy days (documented as factual) are not the same as michelle's supposed militancy (supposed being the key word). I agree wholeheartedly. they're different. one is made up and exaggerated, one is historical.

a publication capitalizing on made up situations like barack's muslimism and michelle's black panther-hood would probably cross a lot of lines as well.

Yes Samee, I know it is made up. I said "supposed" because I meant it.

Why don't we make fun of ol' Jon for having that funny arm & neck?

Point is, Obama's non-muslimhood and Michelle's supposed black-pantherhood are real issues in who people will vote for. Cindy's preferred party choice is not.

Silent,

As Sammee said, doing a story on something that actually was true is more offensive than capitalizing on the completely false notion of Michelle Obama being some militant black????

I wish you were being sarcastic, because there is no way you could hold that belief.

but I guess you do. and you go on to say Michelle's supposed blackpantherhood is a REAL issue....despite it being MADE UP BY A BUNCH OF RACISTS.

meanwhile, cindy mccain is a former drug addict, a current liar of many things, and a true elitist that is PROFITING by the sale of America to foreign entities.

But she can't be an issue in an era where voters claim to care so much about the values of a candidate. You only think the FAKE values of Michelle should be an issue.
That is the dumbest shit i have ever heard. I am done debating it.

I love the "magic wand" talk. Someone at Busted Tees needs to figure out how to make that into a t-shirt.

Last thing Silent,

"Get riled about some satire, but let Jackson's comments slide-by."

Did you read what i wrote:
"side note: i am fine with the Obama cover..."

I got a chuckle out of it and know that the 10% of Americans dumb enough to believe that stuff anyway are never going to vote for him anyway.

And I got a chuckle out of Jesse, because if you listen to the actual video, he is clearly exaggerating what he would do. He doesn't like the Obama rhetoric on fathers, so he made a joke about how mad it made him. It was funny.

Anonymous,

I am pissed the FISA bill passed, but I don't blame Obama. I blame leadership. This thing was dead and didn't need to come back for a vote. But for some reason (to cover their ass, since leadership was briefed on the illegal program and did nothing) they brought it back.

So Obama had to vote. All along he said: He didn't want civil immunity, but wanted the rest of the bill. He had to make a choice.

And its not like the vote was even close.

Finally, when he is president, his justice department will have power to go after these guys. So he is in a unique position to not let this die.....which he seems to be tipping his hat to when he keeps pointing to this law not barring criminal prosecution.

Sammee: I saw "slappy" on the news last night fielding Q's from reporters. This man cannnot even weave a coherent sentence together.

When asked about the economy"

"DUhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........AAAAAAAAAAAAA...Im No economist...DUHHHHHHHH.AAAAAAAAAAAA (Opossum in Headlights look) Butttt - our economy is expanding"

This dumb mother flocker ACTUALLY said that the economy is "expanding" (meaning positive, I assume)

Take a good and long look fellow Americans - I guarantee you will NEVER see a President as dumb as this imbecile.

Chuck,

Maybe we need to define the word "issue". When I say "issue", I mean something that the voters are pondering, deciphering, trying to figure out. Thus, while Obama is not a muslim and Michelle is not the 2nd coming of Angela Davis, voters, albeit dumb ones, are thinking long and hard about it. Therefore, under my definition, it is an "issue".

Cindy's past coke habits are not an issue. The voters obviously do not really care about it and many would think it makes little sense to bring it up. If she somehow tried to deny it, fine, let the dogs loose.

In regards to Jesse...

Do you agree that Obama should not talk about black men not staying at home with their children?

Why should that make Jesse mad? Is that the kind of leadership you think blacks are best served by? Do you think it's fair that Jesse can run around pointing the finger at every other person/race, but will never point the finger at his own? Are you that freaking idiotic that you somehow agree with him?

Chuck, hope you had fun in Hawaii! Your post is hilarious. I am sick of the magic wand as well, and I'm pretty sure that George thinks it exists. I love how that it his "go-to" response for everything. What an idiot. Anyway, hope you are well...congrats on getting hitched.

Petey,

I will agree that Slappy is a moron who cannot talk, but he may be right that our economy is still expanding. In the early spring, when most Analysts on every news channel were saying "we are already in a recession," it turned out they were wrong. Our growth had been lowered, and lowered significantly (something like a growth rate of .1%), but there was still growth.

Jeff -

The first quarter's growth came out at 0.70%, was revised up to 0.90%, then revised again to 1.0%

Not 1/10th of a percent, as you sited. Just clarifying.

You guys can play optimistic games with the stats all you wish, but our economy is a sick puppy.

According to Bush, as most likely as advised by his circus trainers, the economy is in good shape. Thats what I hear drooling out of his pie trap.

Maybe W should sit down for tea and conversation with Ben Bernanke some afternoon

Bernanke foresees slow U.S. growth

Thats putting it mildly, Benny

Petey...I am not being optimistic. I am simply stating the facts as they exist today. Are some people hurting? Yes. Are others doing okay? Yes. Are some doing better than they were last year? Yes.

I just don't condone people saying "x" when "x" is factually wrong.

Ben's statement, that you site, says it all. He see's slow GROWTH, but GROWTH nonetheless. It's a contraction of the economy into negative growth that would show signs of a recession.

And I do believe certain areas of the country, if it could be looked at on a micro level, have contracted. But as a whole, we are growing.
