They Said This Day Would Never Come
20 comments on this postObama suprised everyone, winning North Carolina by 15%, and finally the media is declaring Hillary is done. I am quite annoyed I let so many people waste my time with silly arguments that Hillary still had a chance. I felt like it was 2006 and I was talking to delusional Ken Blackwell supporters. As I have been saying, she has been done since February 12, but now everyone living on planet Earth has come to the reality: Barack Obama, against all odds just a year ago, has won the Democratic Party Nomination.
Now it is on to months more of silly arguments with those claiming McCain has a chance. Well, here's the thing: Obama will definitely beat McCain. McCain agrees with George Bush on every major issue, and I am confident America does not want more George Bush. Meanwhile, Obama has not only been on the right side of vital issues, but also has a unique capacity to unite Americans. Accordingly, Obama will handily defeat McCain.
Congratulations to Barack Obama and all that have worked in support of him. Check this great highlight of the victory that started it all.

Special shout out to fallen blogger, Bob. Great night tonight. I know you were as invested in this as anyone.
Chuck- I hear all of this too...but have a haunting feeling that now the corrupt deals w/SuperDels begins.
Sincere hopes that Bob is AOK
I woke up this morning with the same hopeful feeling I had in February. Finally we can move on from this stalemate! I barely even care that LeBron was 2-17!
It's fine OBama and his crrrazzy wife and preacher will be broken by the time November roles around. He's a frickin socialist who wants to negotiate with rogue nation leaders and immediately withdrawal from Iraq regardless of the generals advice.
I must say he is the most inspiring speaker I've ever heard. So elequent. But his record, his past, and his friends will doom him. I wish I could vote for him but his politicsare those of a socialist and will strangle our capitalist economy.
so i guess we need more of the Bush policies so our economy can keep thriving?
i don't think Bob was as invested in this as much as "anyone"
i think michelle obama (who sadly should be concerned for her life because of irrational people like the guy above) has invested a bit more.
Chuck, I have switched to almost exclusively watching MSNBC for my Election Night coverage. You suggested it a while ago and I thank you for it.
Last night was great.
McCain's not going to be that easy to beat Chuck. While I think he will run a clean campaign, the damage will be done to Obama from the 527's who will focus on Obama's membership to what is considered the biggest black liberation theology church in the country...one that Obama attended for 2 decades. Here's a smattering of what will come out, in my humble opinion.
Rev. Wright has sighted time and time again that his church is based on the teachings of James Cone. James Cone has defined black liberation theology as,
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.
The argument will continue that there is no way Obama and his wife, Mrs. Grievance, didn't pick up on this over 20-years. The question will arise is Obama really a uniter, or a gifted speaker with huge political aspirations? And does his relationship to Trinity transcend "the political" and move to "the philosphical?" The answer is of course it does...Obama himself has called Wright his spiritual advisor. BLT is purely socialist and Cone sights Marx often.
Does the most liberal member of the Senate need ties to Karl Marx? Right or wrong, it will happen.
And don't blast me...I'm just giving you a taste of what will happen.
McCain didn't even get 80% of the vote in Indiana and NC. People are still voting for Huckabee, Romney, and Paul.
Ron Paul got 7% in one state.
McCain will not be tough to beat. Obama is a natural leader who possesses a necessary quality that McCain is losing - sanity.
the people that opposed Obama in the primary will not support him in the general. There are too many reasons to list why Obama will be worse than GWB and I will be doing everything in my power to organize and defeat him. I supported HIllary consistently for the past year and I went from, "I will support Obama if he wins" to "No way, no how can I in good faith support this guy"
Congrats on your classy way of declaring victory-I would have expected nothing less from you.
McCain will not be as easy to beat as you think- Obama has topped out his drawing power-and despite the idealistic dreams of naive, parent supported twenty-somethings, and the harbinger of socialist policies resting in the bowels of academia, drawing their daily bread form the never ending troughs of wasteful public expenses- he won't appeal to enough people to win.
"Special shout out to fallen blogger, Bob. Great night tonight. I know you were as invested in this as anyone."
Yeah what a martyr. How do you find time to ever get anything done in between your never ending backslapping. Just get it over with-declare your love for him, move to Massachusetts and revel inn the joys of civil unions
T-Dawg-
You are what is wrong with this nation. If you seriously think that the people that opposed Obama wont vote for him than you are out of touch. WHEN Hillary steps down she will do everything in her power to endorse Obama and stand behind him. The Demacratic party will unite again and take down GWB II.
Jared
Sanity is something Mrs. Obama and Rev Wright need more of.

Anon...that's not unusual. The reason you WILL NOT see Hillary drop out yet (even though Chuck would love it - but he's not much of a strategist as he is a loyal campaigner)is if she did bow out now, she would still WIN West Virginia. It would be a huge embarrassment to Obama.
Do not think for a moment that anyone who voted for Huckabee of Romney in Indiana won't be voting for McCain in the general election.
t-dawg,
I have also been a Hillary supporter for the past year and I think that current Hillary supporters will back Obama in Novemeber, if he happens to be the nominee. I think that Hillary is a much better candidate than Obama and I will support her until she either drops out or wins the nomination but if she happens to lose I will support Obama. I think that the worst thing the United States needs right now is John McCain as a president. I have complete confidence that the Democratic Party will unite for the election in November and win the Presidency.
Mike from above and I have very different views. I don't much care for anything I've seen from McCain ro Obama, and don't see HRC getting the nom in any fashion, nor me voting for her if she did. I think the dem party has a ton of work to do to not blow this election.
I don't trust the polls at all that say that supporters of one Democratic candidate won't support the other if they win.
All of a sudden Democrats will vote for a guy who won't end the war in Iraq, won't even attempt to fix healhcare, who will cut more taxes on the rich, who can barely remember the differences between shiites and sunis.....
I doubt it.
And I don't think that is something that independents will support either. McCain's 'outsider' and 'maverick' status is gone. Reaching to the right, he has alienated the middle...and the right still doesn't trust him.

The Obama camp must be shitting their collective pants right now. I know I would be if "t-dawg" was out to get me.
Jared
Jared: that was funny.
Just think of all those people in poverty, and all the middle class Americans Barack Obama will help. Just think of the horror! And I dare to say single mothers! How disgusting! We're going to turn into Canada, OH MY GOD.
SAVE US GEORGE BUSH, SAVE US!
I have a strange inclination that in about 8 years George Bush will definitely be heralded as THE best President in our history. A real people's man I tell you.
