Subodh (Sa-Bode) Chandra for Ohio AG

In today's Cincinnati Enquirer, the editorial page editor points out that The Enquirer endorsed Subodh Chandra in the 2006 Democratic primary for Attorney General. The Editor argues that Strickland should seriously consider appointing Chandra to the office now that Dann is selling puppies over the Internet in Youngstown. I agree.
The Cincinnati Enquirer enthusiastically endorsed Chandra in 2006, calling Chandra "the most impressive statewide candidate the Democrats have produced in years." Chandra, an Oklahoma native, served as Cleveland Law Director, a federal prosecutor and an ethics professor at Case Western Reserve School of Law. The Enquirer opined that because Chandra is fiscally conservative and more of a "law and order" type, he may appeal to Republicans as well as to Dems. Ironically, the Enquirer may have foreshadowed Dann's demise, as it noted in 2006 that Dann could face questions on financial disclosures along with ethical complaints regarding a legal case he handled around that time.
According to the Enquirer, Chandra released a 1000 pages of info about himself, including his FBI background check. I believe that this is precisely the type of transparency we need in this position.
I first met Chandra in 2005 when he was gearing up for the primary against Mark Dann (he lost pretty significantly to Dann as Dann swept into office after upsetting Republican Betty Montgomery). At that point, Chandra's main concern was that no one would vote for a candidate whose name they could not pronounce. He looked to Obama to pave the way for other minorities with difficult to pronounce names. It appears that Obama may be doing just that (I know, I know, not so well in Ohio...)
Of everything I have learned about Chandra, I have been most impressed by his record as Cleveland Law Director wherein he drastically reduced spending by handling much of the work in house instead of paying large firms big bucks to handle more complex matters. Chandra has proven himself to be extremely ethical and fiscally responsible, something we could really use in the AG Office.
Notably, Republican Betty Montgomery has stated that she is not interested in seeking the AG position again.

I agree that Subodh Chandra would be a fabulous attorney general for Ohio.
I would like to see the Democratic Party appoint him and support him in the November election.
In addition to being extremely well qualified, having managed a large law department for the City of Cleveland, Subodh is also a good family man.
i like chandra. she writes nice articles here and she's an all-around good kid. *nod*
Sammeee,
I *knew* that someone wouldn't be able to resist and as soon as I saw that you had posted a comment I was pretty sure I knew what it said!
I voted for Chandra in the primary as I felt that his experience with the Cleveland law department made him the better qualified candidate but I'm not at all surprised that Ohioans weren't ready to elect someone with such a difficult to pronounce name. Hey, only my first name is tough, he has a first and last name that don't roll off of our Anglo tongues. Nonetheless, I think that he would make an excellent AG.
Chandra-
I definitely thought about you when I wrote this! I figured you, of all people, should try to get some campaign gear with "your" name on it!
As I recall, Subodh made campaign stops in every county in Ohio - which was a particularly difficult task given that he and his wife had infant triplets at the time.
Subodh Chandra would be an excellent choice. I too would like to see him appointed.
