Update From Our Team Captain

PrefonmaneyThe following is a motivational update from The Chief Source Akron Marathon Relay Captain Michael Maney. The race is this Saturday.

This is your captain speaking.

Well boys we are 5 days away from show time. Smokers time to kick it back to one or none per day. Then we can let it go Saturday night for the post race celebration.

I will pick up all our packets Friday, if anyone wants to come to the expo please feel free to call, it is a lot of fun. Kyle, it is at the John S knight Center btw. You should try to come if you can leave work.

Once everyone gets off work we all need to meet at Morgan's for the annual Pre race pictures & packet pick up. Then we will all go to the Olive Garden for some Pasta loading.

After dinner there will be a showing of the movie Without Limits & Run Like Hell. Feel free to stay over and that way we all can go together in the morning.

I hope this year everyone can hang around for the post race for a bit for more pictures and drinks. After the race we will head back to Kyle's re group and head out to really celebrate!!!

Good Luck!!

Maney

Good luck. I just did my 22 mile training run for the October San Fran Nike Marathon last week so I can certainly appreciate what you guys are doing this weekend. What time are you guys shooting for?

Just so there isn't any mix-up, we are running the relay where we split up the marathon. The thought of 22 miles makes my legs hurt. I'm only running a 5K leg of the relay. I feel like I'm running a sprint compared to the marathoners.

Thanks though for the well wishes Mike D. Let us know how an actual marathon is.

Maney -
This will be my first full marathon so my goal is only 3:55 for this one. I have been running 12k's for a couple of years and trying to break under 45 minutes.

Nice!!! Once you get past 18 miles it's seriously all mental. Breaking fours hours is a good first time goal. That was my goal too. I told myself if Ditty & Oprah were able to break 4 hours so could I. So I am sure you will be able too as well!!! Good luck!!!! Maybe we will see you post race. Just look for 5 drunk guys..

Really? Thanks for the input. I did not know where he lived and I had no idea that sanfran is in california. Where is that by the way? Is it close to Akron or Brunswick by chance?
