the whole situation is sad. Really sad. I just hope both sides, including the protestors, can put their passion to some use. There is a major health care problem in this country, and those concerned with the sanctity of life, should pursue the best health care for everyone. And those people should seek a change in the law if they don't like it. I would be all for some reform, if politicians can come to an agreement.
And yes, there were plenty of hypocrites in the whole ordeal, but there were many good-faith disputes between many reasonable people (reps and dems)
I am a bit annoyed with the family holding Terri up as some sort of marytr. I do think the event is tragic, but she was bulemic and put herself in this situation because of her disorder. That doesn't mean she deserves anything like this, but I just think the parents need to quiet down for at least 2 reasons: 1) why didn't they help Terri 15 years ago when she had this problem (consider this: Michael Schiavo did help her and went to years counseling with her), 2) i am no mental health expert, but eating disorders are usually results of controlling environments and feeling not good enough while growing up, and since they raised her, they have some responsibility in this.
again, i am not claiming she deserves this, but they need to go away, but then again they should have gone away 8 years ago
Well one of the perks of living outside the states is that I didn't have to hear about this case 24-7. From what I gathered on the internet, it seemed really, really drawn-out and ugly.
What will CNN do now that 1/2 of their stories (about nothing and 15 years too late)for each broadcasting day are now gone? Once the Pope dies they're really going to be in trouble. They might have to attempt reporting real news. As for me, I'm hoping they start broadcasting MacGyver reruns.
The more I learn, the more I am conflicted. I was pro removal of life support until I heard about his new wife and kids, and the starvation/dehydration thing is not cool. I dunno. It's unquestionably sad sad sad.
Anyone noticed these parents still fighting and bitching. Makes me really not like them or care about them. There daughter just died and they are bickering over autopsy formalities. These people are just idiots. I feel for them, but more so because they are messed up.
